Saturday, November 26, 2016 in Fucecchio, during the conference organized by the Italian Saffron Association, Professor Angelo D’Archivio of the L’Aquila University presented some of the results of researches carried out in recent years, with the cooperation of our staff, on characterization of crocuses. The methods of chemiometrics applied to saffron have allowed to determine, on the basis of the molecular parameters selected appropriately, samples coming from different geographical areas. Chemiometrics can thus become an excellent tool for the enhancement of backgrounds and contrast the counterfeiting of valuable natural products as Italians saffron.
